| Dr. Hollingsworth - Acupuncture Treatment for Sports Injuries |
|
Editor's Notes: Editor's Notes: When kids play sports, injuries and pain are sometimes a part of the experience. How best to treat the injuries and pain is common knowledge. You take them to the doctor, but which doctor? In the Clubhouse is Dr. Hollingsworth, an Acupuncturist, demonstrating the use of acupuncture to treat pain. How do you treat pain with needles? To find out how acupuncture works and what conditions it can treat we suggest you visit the Mayo Clinic’s website. The largest clinical study of acupuncture ever conducted was published in the December 2004 Annals of Internal Medicine and found acupuncture to significantly reduce and improve function in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee. In recent years acupuncture has become more popular in Western countries and is now recognized by the National Institute of Health as an acceptable form of treatment for pain. In fact, the NIH funded the osteoarthritis study through their National Center for Complementary and Alternative Health. An estimated 15 million people have tried it. Is acupuncture right for your child? At Clubhouse Gas, we report, you decide!
