The Coach's Corner/ MLB Play-Offs
Written by The Coach

This is a wonderful time of year. The playoffs, The World Series,

it doesn’t get much better than this. Your young ballplayers should

be watching these games. But if your player is like mine were, they

are a little too hyper to actually sit and watch the games for long. But

they will be riveted if they participate. Challenge them to execute the

plays (without a ball!). The Jeter Jump in the hole (Oops, he’s through

jumping for the year). Turning a DP. Charging and executing a throw

on the run. The nice thing about today’s DVR or TIVO is that you can

do a playback of a play for him to look at to check the mechanics. It

can even be played in slow mo. Watching these heroes execute the play

correctly will coach them better than anything you can do in practice

unless you can do a quality Jeter Jump( LOL) and they will feel part of

the game. I am sure all the practiced dives onto the couch simulating

a diving catch helped mine make similar plays later on the field even if

it left the couch a little worse for the wear. You can always buy another couch.

As soon as the World Series is over your bride is going to want control of

the remote to watch those “home improvement” shows and they are going

to fill her head with ideas on how to redo the bathroom and you’re no longer

the coach but now the handyman. But if you get my the videos in the

FALL 08 SALE you can stretch the season and save money you would

spend at Home Depot.

Enjoy the playoffs and World Series with your young ballplayer and watch

as he improves in a home training program.
