The Coach's Corner/ End of Season

Well the Youth Baseball World Series are over. Congrats to all the champions.

I got to see some of the Dixie Youth World Series. Boy, what exciting and

compelling contests. Walk offs galour. The Cal Ripkin folks do a great job

and again Walk offs and extra innings drama. Little League had great coverage

and many compelling stories. I felt sorry for the one kid from Lake Charles who

had the bad day from Hell. O-fer with 4Ks, losing pitcher, and a boot that cost

them the game. I even got to see some of the newly formed National Baseball

Championship, which featured champions from eight organizations including the

top travel organizations. These games are archived at MLB.COM. This tournament is

going to be a really big deal in the future. What a bunch of studs playing great

baseball. You can see archived Dixie Youth and Cal Ripkin World Series stuff

at www.clubhousegas.com.

Across the board I was impressed with the composure of the coaches, how loose

the teams were and how much fun they were having. I didn’t see the kind of jerk

coaches I have sometimes seen in the past.

Remember you do not play better by trying harder. You play worse. Someone is

going to win. Someone is going to lose. All you can do is leave it all on the field.

Now they go back to school. I hope if you didn’t make it to a World Series that you took a

break and went to the beach or some other vacation activity.

Down here in Texas, King Football is about to start but if you are going to participate

in Fall Baseball remember to have an agenda of what you want to accomplish in the Fall.

Winning the league is not important. BA is not important. Focus on a particular part of

the game you want to improve.
