The Coach's Corner/Bad Team

I think the phenomenon of the kids stating that they would rather be on a

bad team and get a lot of playing time than be on a winning team and get

less playing time is a recent occurrence. These kids also will not play very long.

One of the most important things an athlete must learn is how to compete and

beat someone out to get more playing time. Further, the choice to be given

playing time on a losing team indicates that the player is more interested in

himself than the team. This is the cursed "I" in team that everyone decries.

This is also the reason that teams now days carry only 10 players. Heaven forbid

anyone ever sits. Heaven forbid someone must compete and beat someone out.
