The Coach's Corner / Development

The whole premise of whether it is about winning or development is flawed.

It assumes that they are mutually exclusive. Players are developed in practice,

not games. We practiced 2-3 times a week and played a couple of games a

week. Practices were fun and I dare say more fun than games. There are numerous

opportunities in a well-run practice for players to take reps at any number

of positions. But more importantly, we laugh and joke and they learn. They

learn to love the game and their teammates.
