The Coach's Corner/Youth Baseball Dissatisfaction |
|
I sense a great deal of dissatisfaction with the structure of youth baseball today.
I was actually contacted by Dad desirous of knowing if I had any
tips for how he should handle his 2 ½ year old son who it
seems is manifesting extraordinary gifts for the game. Here is what I advised:
1. Roll him a ball in the front yard. Toss him a Pickleball for
him to hit with one of those big oversized, yellow plastic bats.
2 .Take him out to the local youth league ballpark. Buy him
a rainbow snowcone and find a coach pitch game. Let him
run loose, get filthy, and develop a love for the ballpark
